KEY business, education, property, health and planning organisations have met for the second time in a year to discuss how to maximise the economic benefits of the Kawana Health Precinct.
“An update was provided from organisations as wide-ranging as Kawana Waters Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ramsay Health Care and Sunshine Coast University Hospital, right through to the University of the Sunshine Coast, Sunshine Coast TAFE, Department of Education, Training and Employment, Lend Lease, Stockland, Shadforth’s and the Sunshine Coast Council,” Sunshine Coast Business Council chair Sandy Zubrinich said.
Ms Zubrinich said in the past 12 months, the Sunshine Coast Business Council and a number of other members of the group had worked collaboratively to identify actions that could fast-track early business investment and maximise investment appeal.
The private hospital is just months away from opening.
Ms Zubrinich said stakeholders that participated in the Sunshine Coast Health Precinct Forum had identified a number of actions for progressing in the coming months.
“One of our key focus areas for the future is developing a targeted recruitment and staff retention strategy for the Kawana Health Precinct,” Ms Zubrinich said.
“We’re also looking at ways to increase the skill levels and qualifications within the local workforce, as well as promote pathways for secondary school students into tertiary studies that will assist them in gaining employment within the new health and medical precinct.”
