Med school spat a bad look for Coast: Business head

THE Sunshine Coast’s peak business body says the trolling war that’s erupted over the Sunshine Coast University Hospital’s medical school is a bad look for the region.

Sunshine Coast Business Council chairwoman Sandy Zubrinich said despite repeated calls for all three levels of government on the Coast to work together on the region’s “big issues”, they were not seeing any collaboration as the med school issue descended into a public slanging match. Read More→

Mayor defends spending on #OperationMedSchool

UPDATE 12.15pm: Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson has said the cost of an advertising campaign pushing for more medical student places at the new hospital is “peanuts”.

Responding to criticism leveled at him on Twitter by state MP for Kawana, Jarrod Bleijie, Cr Jamieson today said the financial cost of the #OperationMedSchool campaign was insignificant compared to the loss the region would suffer if the Sunshine Coast University Hospital is not able to operate as a medical school.
