“An Olympic games held in South East Queensland is bound to provide economic benefit to all Queensland regions, particularly those in close proximity to Brisbane and those known as tourist destinations such as the Sunshine Coast,” Ms Zubrinich said.
“The Coast already has a lot to offer but will have even more by 2028 such as a well-established health and hospital precinct, potentially an expanded airport with new domestic and international routes, better access to the region through an improved Bruce Highway and of course, a well-advanced Principal Activity Centre in Maroochydore, hopefully including a convention centre and 5-star hotel.”
“The commitment to hosting such an event would result in a bigger infrastructure spend on the Coast in the next decade – possibly more than we have seen in the past two decades so the impact on the local economy would be significant and long-term.”
